To kick off the Summer of Small Business initiative I was contacted by Mutual Property Associates to create a first time web presence for a company that had been in business for the past 20 years. With this project I was given guidelines and general structure ideas that the owner hoped to see. I tried to strike a balance between modern design trends as well as the more traditional layouts the company was seeking.
It was important for me to deliver a design that was functional on all devices, and one that was organized and to the point. When dealing with a client like this – where there is minimal content and the majority of their properties were retail related (and would not have large galleries for each listing) – the layout needed to be straight to the point. Google Maps API is used to automatically embed interactive maps and directions into each listing without requiring any code use for the author. In addition I took the existing Mutual Property “Tree” logo and revamped it with new fonts and a more defined look, bringing it into 2013 while keeping with the original feel of the brand.
