Overview

ActBlue is the platform behind small-dollar fundraising for Democratic campaigns, progressive organizations, and nonprofits across the US. From October 2017 to June 2023 I worked with ActBlue as a web developer and consultant on the sites around the core product — the places where ActBlue shared its numbers, published news and fundraising guidance, and helped donors and organizations find answers.

Special projects

2017 and 2018 Year in Review. Annual microsites recapping each year of grassroots giving — the milestones, the stats, and the stories behind them.

$2 Billion milestone microsite. A celebratory site marking $2 billion raised through the platform by small-dollar donors.

ActBlue Support Portal. The help center for donors, campaigns, and organizations, organized around the questions each audience actually asks.

ActBlue Blog and AB Charities Blog. Editorial homes for announcements, cycle recaps, and fundraising strategy — one for the political side of the platform, one for nonprofits using ActBlue Charities.

Hosting and maintenance

Building the sites was half the job. For the length of the consultancy I was also responsible for deploying and managing the server environments behind these properties and others, and for the ongoing maintenance that kept them current, secure, and running.
